Grandma put Emmitt down for a nap. When I went to check on him 30 mins later he was not sleeping but playing with his toes- swinging- as happy as can be.

This past week grandma Connie visited. It was a wonderful trip! G-ma helped take care of Emmitt while I slept and helped take care of me while I was awake and exhausted. She also helped take care of Kevin who was working 14 hour days and covering the Emmitt night shift by cooking wonderful meals for us and cleaning up the house! She even cleaned the mold off the bathroom walls (on Mother's day). I could not have been happier to have my momma here-definitely needed it. Emmitt had a fantastic time with her as well. They went for walks, pretended they were in Paris(eating baguettes and drinking cafe- okay g-ma was), and played outside. I could tell they both enjoyed each others company quite a lot. G-ma got our bedtime voodoo routines down and became an expert "put Emmitt down for AT LEAST an hour nap". The only bummer was we did not take nearly enough pictures while she was here. Emmitt now is 16 weeks (today!) he is becoming quite a character- laughs a bunch, smiles all the time, and is almost always pleasant. His sleep still sucks, but oh'well! We are having a blast.

Things have slowed down at our house. We returned from Colorado- each getting a cold after all the fun. Since we have been spending time at home, taking walks, and getting ready for the big transition. Emmitt has decided he would rather not sleep (like he did as a tiny baby). Between Colorado and being sick he now is up about 5 times a night. We are working hard to get him on a schedule and to sleep a bit longer (any advise is welcome). Although he doesn't sleep much, Emmitt is still sweet, happy, and learning a ton. I swear he will be crawling tomorrow!

Spring is here! Okay, it was for January, February, and March (in Seattle)- now it is winter. Anyways, we have taken the BOB on a few walks- love it and so does Emmitt. He likes the sway of the BOB and that he can face forward- now that his eyes are developed enough to see a fare distance. Emmitt is growing and changing in many ways. He now can grab items, studies colors and patterns, and doesn't hate Tummy time- as much. Emmitt had his first plane ride to Colorado, first Easter, first visit with his cousins, and first trip to the Rockies. He did great. Emmitt also had his first night of sleep in his crib last night and did amazing! So did Dad as he had to get up with Emmitt for the first time ever during the night! Now, we are getting ready for the nanny to start and for me to head back to work. Lots of sadness surrounding this transition for me- but Emmitt is a resilient little guy and I am sure will do just fine. Pictures are from a variety of activities and adventures.
