WHY?

Discovering the wonders of sticks...yeah like it's his first time!
My boy and his crazy long hair
Happy little dude!
I love this shot. He is so sweet!
Helping water the yard. Looking mighty cute I might add!
Gettin it gooooooood! He loves his boots!
Just playing in the morning sun. What better than water and balls!
"What's on your shirt?" E: "Dinosaurs!"
He wanted to take off his Dino shirt. Oh' and yes he is now standing in the water table. He also likes to play baseball while standing in the water table. Do I say no??? Of course not, because he looks so cute!
He then wanted to take off his pants. Did I say no??? Yes, that would be ridiculous (mom rational). Was Emmitt pleased with the answer of "No"...of course not!
Emmitt and his buddy Wyatt. I have to say this is not one of Emmitt's finer shots. He kind of looks like that blond guy in the movie Dumb and Dumber....sorry, just speakin the truth. You know I love him! I do think it was right about now that I decided his hair was taking away from his cuteness though.
Notice the hair!!!Oh my gosh!
Ok, time for a haircut. This is Emmitt first haircut! The big day!!!! I was so anxious about it I found a total kid extravaganza hair salon, paid too much for the haircut, and he still hated it. Oh' and yes those are dreadlocks!
Pre-haircut
Getting into the haircut taxi.....
This was the only moment he didn't scream. I felt HORRIBLE! Poor guy. I thought the stylist would just cut those dreads out, but no she combed each one out and he was pissed. It was motivation, however, to comb his hair once every 2 years.
OH MY GOD! Who's child is this?????? It took both Kevin and I several days to appreciate the new, more sophisticated Emmitt. I don't have any regrets now...but I did at this moment.
Who does he look like now????
Haircut done, let the spoil Emmitt games begin! Play time next door!
My j-crew child, just sweepin.
Torturing Percy. This is something Emmitt wants to do every night. Percy runs, he finds him, then finds some way to poke him under the tree. It is no wonder that this cat sticks around! Emmitt posing with his tool of the night. Thanks Aunt Kelly for the broom!:)
Hummmmm....this doesn't seem to be doing the trick!
Never mind the cat, the grill is always fun!
Kind of a creepy action shot. Not sure I like my boy to be see-through.
Yes, even at 2 years and 4months he drools.
Smiling, even though he is stuck to the tree!
So Kevin made the most incredible ribs and Emmitt LOVED them! Way to smoke'em dad!
Playing in Laramie's Wide open spaces. We took a weekend trip to Laramie for a baby shower and a visit with the Devereux's. Thanks Papa Bob for letting us destroy your house!
Stick throwing! Emmitt always loves a good throw!
Sara: "Lets take the boys to the train before we go to Sweet Melissa's" Me: "yeah, they will love it" Reality: 3 screaming Toddler boys. Holden screamed and refused to leave. Emmitt refused to let us hold his hands and kept sitting down screaming "No" every time we tried. The wind was unreal and freezing. Sara and I: "great idea!"
Oh' my gosh...this is SO fun! I think I will have a nervous breakdown!

2 years 4 months

Why? This is the new question of the past week. It is amazing how a Monkey can go from "what's that?", "What happening?", "What's that noise?", to "What's that? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?" The only thing that puts an end to this "Why?" is Me: "I don't know".

Emmitt is full of 2 year questions and the blossoming of a defiance that you have to appreciate. I think the early 2's defiance was more frustrating but these days I actually find his defiance and constant No's, to be indicative of the person he will become and the independence that he is discovering. It is funny that last night (the blog usually takes 2 nights at least) I put him to bed and thought "oh he is so sweet, funny, amazing" I had a big heart. But tonight after he refused bath, ran from me throughout the yard, threw a tantrum in the house (after I caught him), begged for a bath, threw a tantrum when he didn't get one, then took an hour and 5 bedroom visits before FINALLY going to sleep, did not leave me with the same blissfull parenthood thoughts. However, I do have to admit that while looking over the blog and reflecting on our adventures through his life, that I am back to that place. Emmitt is truly an amazing piece of work, in progress. He is talking an amazing amount, figuring out how to function like a "big boy", and I just know is going to turn out to be an incredible person. (sorry to get so sappy) I now can go to bed thinking "wow, what a great night" and tomorrow night will just have to bring up this blog when I am equally exhausted and irritated! Oh' toddlers! They are FUN! :))
