Emmitt's first trip to Lake Washington Madison park. Kevin got in a swim. Emmitt cried when we put his feet in the water. Again, I think a bit cold for the little guy. He enjoyed watching all the people and pigeons. The french Giraffe joined us, of course.
Grandma Jo thought he looked much better after she dressed him(in Wisconsin gear no less). I agree--what a freakin cutie!

a trip to the beach- Golden Gardens for a beautiful day, lovely time---although we ran into a crazy man and had to call 911(literally). He said we were demons and we should die. Didn't think that was very nice of him! Emmitt stuck his toes in the sound, I think it was a bit cold for him.
Emmitt's favorite treat is the paper tag
Grandma Jo and Aunt Kelly went to the outlet mall!
Grandma Jo...sweet love

The past two weeks were filled with Jackson love. Jo and Kelly came for a birthday visit. Kelly got to meet Emmitt for the first time. He loved her. Of course he knew it was his aunt Kelly, because he is a genius. Emmitt is now crawling. Okay, he does the army crawl, the creepin crawl, and the "I don't know what happened I turned around for a second and he was in a different place" crawl. Emmitt is full of chatter, has started to enjoy eating, and is sleeping well. I tried a new technique with food and have started making food for him with lots of interesting flavors. I figured he gets all sorts of ethnic flavors from my milk, maybe that's the problem he was bored with plain, jarred food. It has sort of worked. Also, his aunt Kelly was a fantastic feeder. During the Jackson trip Emmitt went to the outlet mall for the first time (G-ma Jo swears his first words will be "lets go to the outlet mall"), he tried tatzki and greek lemon soup(LOVED the soup), and put his toes in the sound. He also taught Mama a lesson, don't shake the baby after he gets a bottle(see the video)!

Computer Geek Emmitt
Eating out with Emmitt has become quite a challenge. He must be constantly occupied and wants to touch and eat everything (except real food). Here he is at Emmit Watson's oyster bar. A crazy looking Employee took special interest in Emmitt and provided him with an endless supply of spoons to throw and bang on the table.
Emmitt loves the baby Bjorn. I actually purchased a really nice carrier but he only wants to face front in the bjorn. When you put him in the Bjorn he squeals in delight, kicks his legs, and laughs. He is going to be sad when he no longer fits!

YAY! Aunt Sara!

What a wonderful week! Emmitt is now about 6 1/2 months. He is finally (after Ferberizing him) sleeping up to 8 hours a night in a row- almost 12 hours total. The baby is SO smart that it only took him about 4 nights to figure it out. We both came out fine(after a bit of emotional stress)__ and now we have been relishing in sleeping for more than 2 hours in a row. It is so wonderful we can't believe it and wake up several times a night to check and make sure it is for real! Speaking of genius babies, Emmitt is one! He picks up new skills daily. He astonishes us. He is already trying to crawl, loves to stand, can reach and grasp most anything, interacts with us constantly, has incredible eye contact, and is full of chatter. He also has broken in 2 new teeth and we think maybe a few more are on the way. One thing Emmitt doesn't like is food. I went to Whole foods and purchased every kind of baby food I could find for infants and he is like "no thank you". Even though it is slightly frustrating, it is really hilarious to see the expression on his face when he eats the most hated of foods, banana, avocado, plums, really most all fruit. Oh' well we just take it a day at a time and assume one day he will enjoy his food, otherwise we will have to sell him since we won't be having any picky eaters in this foodie family! Ha! The last wonderful event of this past week was a visit by Grandma Connie and aunt Sara. We had a wonderful time, eating good food, playing with Emmitt, taking walks, and just being together. I really needed some Strayer girl time and think Emmitt did too. He LOVES his auntie and Grammy. Next up Jackson family girls! Yay!
