Grandpa Larry and Catherine visit, One Wild weekend at the cabin, and a Halloween Dinosaur

What could be more fun than Shaving cream in the tub???I can't think of much except tonight we played with ice cubes in the tub and he seemed to enjoy that just as much.

Emmitt's first Halloween!!!! Didn't want to wear the head, didn't really want to wear the costume...I bribed him with Trick or Treating. "you can't go unless you wear a costume" He didn't even like my Polka- dot- Afro-Circus wig (see the new Madagascar movie).

Emmitt did great Trick-or-Treating. His Grandma Jo came along, he was very polite, forgot what to say "Trick-orTreat" several times, and loved to see the dogs and kids dressed up. When we got home he really enjoyed giving out candy, except to the really scary kids, then I had to give it out.

32.5 lbs, getting taller by the day (Everyone keeps telling me he is tall, who would of thought?)
Like to eat Cupcakes, frozen Peas(yes frozen), Meatballs, Rice Pilaf, Mac n Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Ice Cream, Cheetos (yes, I know, bad!), Warm Bottles (STILL!), Cucumbers and dip, Pizza, broccoli, Banannas (only if he gets to peal them), and Apples. He will still try anything..just won't always eat it.
Likes to go to the Museum and Zoo, go to the park with his Papa and Daddy, go to the Library, play with his millions of animals and dinosaurs, and play "puppy" and "take a rest" with me :) Chase never gets old for Emmitt (although it gets real old for Momma and Daddy) and his newest thing is "Tag".

Emmitt is a charmer these days. He seems to be more flexible, fun, and engaging by the day. I am always waiting for those 2/3 year old tantrums to rear their ugly head or for him to loose his mind over little things, but really the guy is resilient and mostly enjoyable. Over the past few months he had a visit from his Grandpa Larry and Catherine. He didn't bat an eye. He seemed to understand their importance in his life, gave them lots of love, and missed them when they left. They did a wonderful job getting close to him, relating to him, and giving him lots of love. Emmitt also had to say goodby to his Nanny of a year and half and welcomed all his grandparents into his space. He transitioned to this seemlessly, a few tired days, but overall embraced his constantly changing care, asked daily "who's coming today", and got into the rhythm of new adventures and care. He has now officially started daycare and didn't blink an eye when Kevin left him the first day. He simply said to me when I picked him up "I played with ALL my friends". Emmitt still loves to be social, always wants to play with other kids at the park, regardless of their desire to play with him. As usual, I am his biggest fan, although his Grandparents seem to think pretty highly of him. But really...this guy is good!
Emmitt Moments and Accomplishments
I spent 3 hours trying to get E to take a nap one day. He pulled out all the stops avoiding this, and did. At one point I laid down with him in my bed..he started to get sleepy but then jumped up and said "what was that noise?". I rolled my eyes and said "nothing Emmitt. I didn't hear anything". He turned to me and said "I will go see what it is". As he was heading out the door, I stayed in bed, he turned to me and said "Momma, you stay here with my bottle. I will be right back". I laughed at this and stayed put. I waited and then heard the front door open. When I walked out Emmitt was outside playing. When I asked him what he was doing he said "Just playing Momma".

When requesting a "Warm Bottle" one day, I gave him one that was sitting around. Emmitt turned to me and said "Momma, that's not a warm bottle, that turned to milk." Apparently, he told Nana that he drinks water in his bottles, not milk. What have I done?????????

Tonight Emmitt tooted in the tub. When I looked at him he said "what did Emmitt do?" Ha, Ha! He now refers to himself in the third person?

Walking by the bananas that had turned Emmitt said "Those bananas got dirty". (so cute!)

Trying to put Emmitt down for bed...5 bottles later (ok an exaggeration more like 2.5 warm bottles) I said "Ok Emmitt, time for bed. Momma has to go clean the house" (my way of saying I am outta here) Emmitt says "Ok Mom, I'll call you". 

Emmitt counts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,16, 20 ---Not bad for a 2 1/2 year old!
