Eating the ice out of my Ice Tea. He stuck his super muddy hands in my cup...that was the end of that drink.
Dirty boy feet! Guess what he was doing?
What do you do with a box???? Wear it on your head!
Ok, so there are other 2 1/2 year olds that drink a bottle...Wyatt is one of them. Emmitt requested a bottle and when Wyatt realized what he was missing he asked for one to. Two dudes and their bottles!
Yeeeeeeehawwwwwww!
Ha! Ha! Ha!
What do parents of 2 1/2 year olds do for fun? We drink beer and push the kids in a toy stroller. This was hilarious! Emmitt and Wyatt pushed each other too.
Takin a walk to the river on a lazy Sunday. Emmitt looks like he needs a nap! These pictures make me realize that Emmitt has grown and now his clothes are too tight!
Yup, more naked baby in the yard.
"Oh' this box would make a great climbing wall"
Cleaning and drinking beer...No, Emmitt doesn't drink beer, just Momma.
"What? I'm not doing anything."
Dirty Dancing!
A naked rain dance
Just chillin! He definitely knows say "CHEESE!"
Oh' wait he forgot the rule, DON'T SPRAY MOMMA!
So I copied my sister's idea and made a mud/water pit for Emmitt. It is not hard to find good places to make a water pit in our yard. Emmitt's favorite thing to do is to make a "river" and "lake" for his animals. He finally understands that if he sprays Momma..she gets pissed! Oh' and clothes are optional, in case you want to join in the fun. I think the neighbors must think we don't have any clothes for Emmitt. He is usually missing pants or everything.
My guy!
Emmitt made a friend with the first kid he met at the first campground. He LOVES to make friends.
Sweet guy! I never mind hiking with a Monkey on my back!
Yes, of course the Monkey wants to climb the rock wall...and everything else.
Checking out the caves, behind the falls.
A beautiful place, we decided the leprechauns live here!
A hike at Rifle Falls
Marshmallows! Emmitt was way more into the idea of roasting marshmallow then actually eating them. So, I ate LOTS of marshmallows!
Dad fishing for the first time, in a looooooonnnnggg time!
A Good One!
Emmitt doing what Emmitt does best, looking for rocks to throw and then throwing them!

This guy was sooooooo tired. He couldn't make it through his show!
The hot springs. Emmitt was amazing. He was a bit hesitant at first but then got used to the temperature. He got into pools that were too hot for me! Kevin was his ferry.
Strawberry Hot Springs outside of Steamboat. Yes, we slept in a caboose.

How do you get an overstimulated exhausted boy to chill at the campsite? A show, veggies and dip, and mac n cheese.
Emmitt determined that we will take a hike.
Kevin trying to get Emmitt to head back to the campsite.
Early morning walk. This guy looks tired! Although, he was begging to walk down this huge mountain side to the stream below.
Emmitt wasn't phased by the water temp at all. He played in the water in jeans, sweats, socks, shoes, no shoes, a diaper, and jacket.
This water fall was right next to our campsite at Cold Creek Campground. Emmitt LOVED it. It kept him occupied for many hours!
Playing in the sun. Perfect time for a Momma and Emmitt picture. He is gettin good at these.
This guy can boat and yes he has a bottle in his hand. Daddy and mommy get a beer. Emmitt gets a bottle. We all have our vices. When you ask Emmitt what daddy wants. He responds "a beer". I asked him what I drink and his response was "beer?" I said "what else?" Emmitt said "why?" (meaning wine). I finally got him to say water, thank god he doesn't think I only drink alcohol!
Emmitt, my little Monkey 2yrs 8mths
Hiker: Yes Boater:Yes Rock Thrower: Of Course Camper:The Best
The first Jackson family camping vacation went off without a hitch....except for the log Emmitt left in his car seat the day of departure. Ha Ha! The poor guy was playing in the car while Kevin and I loaded the car with WAY TO MUCH CRAP. I turned around for a second only to turn back around and see my boy with a look of panic on his face. When I entered the car there was a smell.....I looked around a bit...and found a big ol poop on Emmitt's seat. His response..."sorry momma". What a guy. Well after the car poo we headed to the mountains for a week long adventure, not sure how the monkey would do, but loaded with toys, shovels, and animals galore. He did amazing! Emmitt was a joy. Only a few times (mostly when he was being told "no") did he state he wanted to "go home". Most of the time he just enjoyed being outside all day, sleeping in the tent, playing in streams, lakes, and rivers, throwing rocks and sticks constantly, and looking for animals. Ok, and enjoyed his shows. Camping in the year 2012 is awesome with all the technology available. Baby got movies in the car and the occasional campfire show. Long story short, this guy can camp and has motivated us to make it a major part of his life.
Emmitt has been talking for awhile but only in the past couple of months has he really mastered the sentence. He now talks nonstop. Telling stories of his day, talking of things he wants to do, places he would like to go, what he likes, and what he doesn't. He really enjoys talking with others and constantly wants to socialize with other kids. The other day I convinced him to go to the store for some much needed items. I usually avoid these kinds of activities after work because I am just too tired to fight him on it. This day he was uncharacteristically agreeable (no it wasn't because I bribed him with a sticky lizard either). So we hopped in the car, I rolled down the windows, and we were off. As we approached the first stop sign I hear Emmitt say "hi" to a biker passing by. At the first stop light I hear "Hi". When I turn around Emmitt has engaged the man sitting in the car next to us. Of course the man looked uncomfortable, but pleased that the little Monkey was chatting him up. Emmitt yelled at me saying "momma say hi. That man is talkin to me". When we hit the store Emmitt proceeded to greet the cashier and those standing in line. He then chose the animals (otherwise known as bribes) and discussed his treasures with all those waiting in line. The boy is FRIENDLY! Then we headed home. On the way I debated about whether to pass by our regular park or not. I had purchased some ice cream and it had to go home. I was concerned that if Emmitt saw the park we would HAVE to stop. I decided to brave it. As I passed by the park, Emmitt said "I want to go to the park and have ice cream." I explained that I needed to put the ice cream in the freezer and his response was "Oh, I thought we were going to go to the park". I was surprised that he was 1)ok that we didn't stop 2) amazed at his ability to discuss his thoughts and what he "thought" we were going to do. I told him we could go to the park after I put the ice cream in the freezer. He said "OK". When we got to the house he said "I'm going to wait here". Not sure where my 2 y/o went and who replaced him with an adult I said "Ok" hesitantly. In the end I made him go with me. However, this is one small example of the little man I have living in my house these days. Of course he is still full of 2 y/o drive, intolerance, and fight, but he also seems relieved that he is able to express many of his thoughts and ideas. I love it. Here are a few of my favorites....
Laying in bed in the morning Emmitt says "I'm a boy". I say "I'm a girl". Emmitt says: "No, momma you're not a girl. You a momma!"
Emmitt falls to the floor exclaiming "I hurt my uncle!" (means he hurt his ankle)
Kevin suggests we play chase. Emmitt states, looking at me "lets run to color". Kevin and I look at each other in confusion. I ask Emmitt if he wants to color. Emmitt says "no". Hummm, what does he mean? "oh, you want to run together?" Emmitt says "yes, to color"
Emmitt "something smells fresh and nice"
Emmitt "I'm super tired"
Emmitt is learning to "Potty on the Pot"(hell yeah!). He says he can do it himself...and he can. I told him I had to go "Potty on the Pot". When I finished Emmitt said "good job Mom. I proud of you". Guess he has heard that one before.
What a guy! (as Grandma Jo would say)
Haven't checked the site in awhile. That is one cute kid. Nice work mamma.
