"Cheese" I told Emmitt to say "Cheese" and he did! He then started begging for a piece of cheese. My guy loves bottles and cheese in the tub!
Emmitt is in love with his Dinosaurs and Animals. He now carries them with him all day, takes them into the bath, then I have to dry them off 1 at a time, and then he requests they be put in his crib so he can sleep with them.
Emmitt bossing his cousin Killian around. He said "jump" encouraging him to jump from the same rock he just did. One monkey always needs another around.
Very happy to be playing at the Botanical Gardens with his cousin's and Aunt Sara. Right before I took this picture Emmitt called Sara by her name, instead of the usual "Sasa".
These are pictures of Emmitt throwing rocks at the river near our house. Emmitt could throw rocks for hours. When I said to him "do you want to go to the river?" He said "throw rocks?". The guy knows what is going on.
Ok, this is a sweet picture of the two of us snuggling together. This is one of Emmitt's most favorite things to do with me these days. However, it does appear that I am lactating....which I am most definitely not. Please excuse the grease stain...we just had lunch and anyone with a toddler knows that lunch with a toddler means food everywhere, including on Momma!
We had a "party" for Emmitt, Holden, and Killian while Sara and Jimi went to a wedding celebration. The party included balloons, play dough, and muffins with whip cream and sprinkles. Heck yeah, Aunt Andrea, Uncle Kevin, and G-ma Connie ROCK!
In Emmitt's old age he has taken to harassing his poor cousin Killian. This includes following Killian around, pushing, poking, sitting on, rolling on, and staring at him. Poor Killian after an entire weekend of this harassment finally just started walking away, appearing very sad. Emmitt doesn't dare mess with Holden (the biggest of them all).
Conversation between Kevin and I. "Lets carve a pumpkin! That will be so fun! Emmitt will love it. I know...lets get sharp cutting tools. Great!"(we didn't actually say this). Emmitt's reaction: not interested in the pumpkin, only the sharp tools. Guess he is just not old enough yet!
Emmitt is always interested in what I am doing in the bathroom. On this particular day he really discovered the joys of the mirror. It was super funny to watch him entertain himself with his own silliness.
So tired from a morning adventure with G-pa Larry at the Pumpkin Patch. I love watching him sleep in the car. He still looks like the little baby I remember from not long ago.
Picking out Pumpkins at the Pumpkin Patch. Emmitt wanted all of them. He soon got me to fill up the wagon with WAY to many Pumpkins.
While G-pa Larry was here for a visit we took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful day and we all had a great time. I can't believe we don't have a picture of G-pa Larry at the patch. He did have a great time....I am sure of it.
"brush?" Emmitt hates to have his teeth brushed. He of course LOVES to have us brush our teeth though. He also loves to pretend he is spitting.Every morning this is a battle. I swear I will not have a baby with silver teeth!!! Get rid of the bottle most say, I say...No, he just needs to brush his teeth(I am a wimp when it comes to the bottle). I have tried dancing, singing, being a good example. Any suggestions from you parents out there is welcome.
Every time I see my nephews I think "what kind of treat can I get them today". I swear I am not trying to bribe them into loving me, well maybe sometimes. Anyways, I always pick a winner. Today? A pretzel covered in chocolate and mini M & M's.
He Speaks! A lot! First 4 word Sentence!
Emmitt: Almost 22 months
Emmitt continues to be a busy boy these days. He is most busy with his words. He is constantly talking, although we can only understand about 85% of what he says. Most recently he said "I got a bottle"! Wow! I was impressed by this sentence, since usually what comes out sounds more like gibberish. The process of watching a little person learn to speak is truly amazing. If I am looking for inspiration, all I have to do is watch Emmitt discover his world, discuss his environment, and his joy of everything he sees. Emmitt is particularly impressed by big machines, trucks, and cars. He really enjoys dinosaurs and lately will only watch the movie Ice age. In fact "shows" as he calls them have taken on a life of their own. Very soon we are likely going to need a "show" intervention. Emmitt is decisive, opinionated, funny, and sweet. He is really into "Mom" snuggle time right now. I have to admit I love it. The other day we slow danced with me to a song and Kevin said "next he is going to kiss you". In fact he did. Makes a mother's heart melt. I try to cherish every love, hug, smile, and kiss because I know he won't give them up forever.
