Sporting a Shady Hills Campground t-shirt. This shirt has to be like 30 years old, at least. My grandparents were the owners of Shady Hills Campground. I love this shirt!
Emmitt is now 8 1/2 months old. I cannot believe it. He no longer looks like a baby, but a little boy. I think I have said that before, now I mean it! He crawls at an amazing speed, mostly trying to get into the bathroom to lift up the toilet seat or the laundry room where he can eat cat food and discover cat poop (so far we have been successful at avoiding this). Emmitt finds joy these days in playing in the kitchen sink, a bad habit I started when he was much smaller. Now, whenever I do the dishes he pulls on my pant leg, whining, until either I let him play in the sink or come up with some way to distract him. It gets harder and harder to distract him from his wants and desires. Anyways, there are quite a few pictures from his sink time, since I am of course a sucker for his sweet sweet face and most always give into his wants and desires. One day I suppose I will learn, until then he is a lucky boy with the run of the house(as if an 8 1/2 month old could have that much control)! Emmitt also LOVES the bath. He is now taking Big Boy baths, as we call them. He gets the whole tub. At first he did not like all this freedom. Now, he LOVES it. He goes everywhere in the tub. Wants to stand, jump, discover every nook and cranny. If you don't watch every second he is bound to find something he shouldn't. I have had to do some bath reorganizing, to say the least. He now gets SO excited for bath time that he can be whining, crying for bed, and as soon as you get him naked he crawls like mad to the bath. He then stands there and bounces up and down while the water pours in, yelling at the tub. It is precious. I love to watch him get so excited. New abilities include, standing for several seconds while not holding on, clapping (just learned today), and sticking his hand out to say hello to everyone- I mean everyone! As we walk down the street (Emmitt in baby bjorn, because he hates his stroller) greets the people we pass with an arm straight out towards them. I think it is hilarious. Sometimes people think it is cute, sometimes not. Unfortunately, it looks something like a Nazi salute. Regardless, we find his every move endearing. Emmitt is a joy. He has just started to develop a bit of "stranger danger" and a little anxiety when we leave, these things only make me realize how important our jobs as parents are. He now hugs us tight and gives us the biggest smile when we see him. Parenthood is good. We are now off the charts in love!
Love him. Love you. You can most certainly bet that once Emmitt is of drinking age, he will love wine just as much as his mama!
ReplyDeleteI soooo look forward to having the Jackson family closer...
Love you all, and Happy Halloween! (BTW, what is Emmitt going to be this year?)
Andrea-the part about him not wanting to face you reminds me of Levi and Henry. They did nurse the full year, but they hated to be held and just loved exploring and looking out in the bjorn, etc.
ReplyDeleteBUT, now at 2 1/2, they LOVE to be held and to cuddle. Just be patient.
Also, Wesley is the complete opposite. He loves to cuddle.
I hope you are well. We are coming to Seattle for 3 weeks, starting December 16th. Will you be around? I would love to meet Emmitt and to see you! xoxo
