Turning into a chub a lub. Must be all that late night snacking he does.
sleep training. He is not supposed to sleep here, but in his crib, without rocking or a bottle. Of course he woke up as soon as I tried to remove him from the Bjorn.
Emmitt has beautiful eyes

drooly, no teeth yet
Hot in the summer time!
I think he is beautiful.
Emmitt laughs all the time!
such a sweetie

oh' he also hates rice cereal. Can you blame him?
FOOD! Avocado to begin with. E hates it!

6 MONTHS!!!!! On the 20th Emmitt turned 6 months old. I cannot believe it. In the past 3 months he has changed SO much, as you can see. He just started eating solid food, avocado, carrots, peas, and sweet potato so far. He loves to stand, is practicing the moves he needs to crawl, and can rotate around to reach pretty much anything he eyes. Yes, sleep still is horrible! SO- in desperation we have started to "Ferber" train him. This is officially day 2- very, very painful for me. Emmitt is not too thrilled with it either. We will give this a week or 2 and if it doesn't work--- I GIVE UP!

Packing for Colorado

Emmitt wants to be everywhere he should not be. Kevin says I am a sucker and usually give in.

Emmitt is now 5 1/2 months old. He is growing at an astonishing rate. I am sure this is what everyone was talking about when they said it would fly by. I am amazed at his development and skills. It seems he has a new sound or is able to perform new tasks everyday. It is great fun to watch. Emmitt continues to be a very chill guy during the day- full of smiles and laughs- and continues to wake up at night every 1 1/2 -2 hours. We are tired, very very tired, but feel blessed to have such a relaxed and happy baby. I keep telling myself (Cathy no comments on this one) that he will sleep one day. I just know it. We have to have hope or else it is just insanity. Emmitt and I took a real quick trip to Colorado this past week. We stayed at Sara and Jimi's new house and made it to the cabin for part of a day. It kind of felt like a whirlwind trip but I guess all our lives are a bit more complicated these days. Not as easy to just pack up and hit the road. Anyways, we had a great time with the family. Killian and Holden were more interested in Emmitt this time. I think Emmitt was amazed and entertained by them as well as being scared of their 1 1/2 year old temper tantrums. Holden liked to give Emmitt a kiss and then turn around and hit him or take away his toys. Killian watched Emmitt from a distance and then would give him his favorite toys to play with. It was SO sweet. We can't wait to eventually move back so the cousins can know each other better and so Kevin and I can be closer to family and support. Hope everyone is enjoying the sun. We finally are showing signs of summer here in Seattle.

Grandpa Bob's bathtime

This week Grandpa Bob visited. He and Emmitt had a great time together, had lots of opportunities to bond on long walks around Ballard. During the week Emmitt grew and I swear entered an entirely new developmental stage. I feel I blinked and Emmitt turned from tiny baby to grown, almost toddler baby. Emmitt now seems to have his own opinions, can pull his toys out of his toy basket, loves to push away from whomever is holding him, wants to grab everything, squeals, yells, and babbles in delight constantly, and is a great snuggler. He has found a new appreciation for nursing, however still hates to sleep. Go figure! These pictures/videos are mostly from Grandpa Bob's visit. It was a wonderful time and we wish it didn't have to end.

Emmitt is sitting up on his own now and looks SO cute on the bed

Emmitt the Buddha

The sun finally shined for a day so we all laid in the yard, Emmitt, Kevin, Percy, and I. These pictures were taken while we played.

Summer has yet to arrive in Seattle so every time there is even a remotely nice day we try to be outside. Some of these pictures are from playing outside. Emmitt is now mastering the art of sitting up on his own and grabbing toys or your face if you get close enough. He looks so cute when he does it and it is fun to sit in front of him and entertain him, instead of behind. He is turning into a little person with a little personality and makes me smile so much my face always hurts. This time I took tons of video mostly because he keeps doing really funny things and I think you all will enjoy them. What can I say he is growing and I swear getting cuter everyday. You be the judge!
